What a schematic is
A schematic is the recipe itself. Until you own it the item stays locked in the Craftbot or Saw Table list, even when you are carrying every material it needs.
1.0 RECIPE UNLOCKS
Every Craftbot and Saw Table recipe starts locked. Here is how the Schematicbot decides what you get, and every recipe sorted by the route that unlocks it.
A schematic is the recipe itself. Until you own it the item stays locked in the Craftbot or Saw Table list, even when you are carrying every material it needs.
The caged farmer at the Hideout sells five boxes for one Broccoli Crate, and loot crates drop one to three at a time. A box is only useful at a Schematicbot.
One box buys a two-second scan that unlocks a single recipe. Every recipe still locked has exactly the same chance, and the one you get leaves the pool, so each box draws from a shorter list than the last.
Put a part you own into the Schematicbot instead of a box and it unlocks that exact recipe, no box spent. It is the only way to aim at a specific part.
Unlocking a block anywhere in the game also unlocks the matching Saw Table wedge. That takes the wedge out of the research pool for free, so blocks you buy or find shrink the draw.
Tick what you have already unlocked. The pool, the odds and the boxes you still need update as you go, and the list stays saved in this browser.
356 more Schematic Boxes empty the pool.

Every list matches the current game version. A recipe appears in more than one list when there is more than one way to get it.
